Storms swept through West Michigan for a second night in a row Wednesday, leaving behind even more damage.

According to the Consumers Energy outage map, over 215,890 people were without power Thursday morning in Michigan. That number includes 34,955 people in just Kent County. Other counties are also experiencing extensive outages, including Allegan (12,806), Ottawa (7,690), Barry (6,798), Newaygo (5,452) and Kalamazoo (4,445).

Consumers Energy crews are currently working to restore power, with more than 450 crews working throughout Michigan. Crews from seven states, including Ohio, Kentucky and Missouri, will be coming to Michigan to assist in the power restoration effort as well.

Along with power outages, the storms brought strong winds and destruction. Downed trees, branches and power lines are being found across the region.

The damage comes after severe weather on both Tuesday and Wednesday night. Several severe weather alerts were issued throughout the day Wednesday, with the first thunderstorm watch issued just before noon.
