13 ON YOUR SIDE's Jay Plyburn announces upcoming departure after 3 years

Jay is pursuing other opportunities in West Michigan that will allow him to spend more time with his family. His last day on-air will be in mid-March.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — After three years with 13 ON YOUR SIDE, morning anchor Jay Plyburn is saying goodbye.

Jay’s journalism career started in early 2008 when he was hired by a station in Texas. He then worked in Arkansas and Georgia before finding his way to Michigan in January 2021.

At 13 ON YOUR SIDE, Jay helped launch the 13 HELP Team, where he helped recover tens of thousands of dollars for West Michigan residents.

Jay and his wife Whitney welcomed a baby girl into their family in September 2022, and Jay said the early morning schedule is no longer conducive to life with a baby. He’s pursuing other opportunities in West Michigan that will allow him to spend more time with his family.

Jay said it’s bittersweet because he loves the 13 ON YOUR SIDE morning team, and he will miss the early morning interactions. Jay will be part of the team until mid-March.
