'I'LL SEND YOU PICTURES' | Portage man asking people not to tour tornado-damaged areas

Terence Blosl approached 13 ON YOUR SIDE while we were covering clean-up efforts. He said people gawking at the damage are slowing clean-up efforts.

PORTAGE, Mich. — Things are going well on Primrose Lane, all things considered. The neighborhood is just one of many parts of West Michigan hit by one of the tornadoes on Tuesday night. Lining the street are downed trees and branches. Much of it has been cleaned up, and Terence Blosl is happy about how the neighborhood has come together.

"Everybody's working together. I was alone in the house when it happened. Right after it was over, my neighbors came over to make sure I was okay, and I really, really appreciate it," he said.

But there is one thing Blosl isn't so pleased with. While we were on Primrose Lane getting video of the community clean-up effort, he approached our crew and said the amount of people using this as sort of a disaster tourism opportunity has been upsetting for neighbors.

"Workers are using their trucks trying to get in here trying to get out, and they're impeded by people who are just parading up and down our street, very slowly, taking pictures. I kind of understand that, but they're really delaying our recovery a lot, and it's I just find it very irritating," he said.

In the time that 13 ON YOUR SIDE was on Primrose Lane, and elsewhere, we noticed the type of behavior Blosl spoke about. On many parts of the street there is only room for one car to pass through, because of all the debris lining the side of the road.

"Stay home if you can, and think about us here, who are going through this stuff. I'll send you pictures!" said Blosl.
