Volunteers needed for Mel Trotter's annual Easter community meal

The meal is not just for Mel Trotter guests. Residents of the Heartside community and those struggling with homelessness are encouraged to join.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Mel Trotter Ministries is preparing their annual Easter meal for anyone in the community struggling with homelessness or looking for companionship.

Ministry officials are estimating about 400 people will take part in this year's meal, which is on Wednesday. Attendees will be able to choose from a selection of meats, potatoes and vegetable options, along with an assortment of dessert.

From 4 p.m. to 5:45 p.m., Mel Trotter guests and Heartside community members will be served. Then from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., families staying at Mel Trotter and within the community will be served.

The Easter community meal is Wednesday, March 27 at Mel Trotter Ministries on Commerce Avenue SW.

Mel Trotter Ministries also hosts community meals around other holidays, including Thanksgiving and Christmas.
