West Michigan organizations debuts greeting cards in honor of Veterans

Friday is Veteran's Day and some local organizations are saying thank you to our servicemen and women with a special greeting.

Design Design Inc. and local nonprofit organization, Has Heart debut U.S distribution of 18 greeting cards inspired by U.S. veterans. Each card features artwork created by a group of designers in collaboration with wounded U.S. veterans, sharing their unique, personal story. The collection launches in commemoration of Veteran's Day.

"This year's veteran-inspired greeting card collection helps tell the story of some of our inspiring American heroes," said Don Kallil, president and founder of Design Design. "Through our partnership with Has Heart, we've been able to bring to life their powerful experiences through beautiful artwork – and these cards can be used to celebrate life's special occasions throughout the year."

"Has Heart is honored to partner with local greeting card company Design Design to share a selection of stories of American wounded veterans," said Michael Hyacinthe, Has Heart cofounder and U.S. Navy veteran. "This collaboration allows us to express the bravery of our heroes into tangible moments of reflection, joy, encouragement, sorrow and celebration. The words of our heroes can help connect us and inspire us all."

Proceeds from the collection benefit Has Heart to further their mission.

Design Design's Chief Marketing Officer, Phil Cowley, met Has Heart founder, Michael Hyacinthe, at Art Prize in 2014. Their mission inspired Cowley and he felt they had to collaborate in some capacity. Two years later, using the artwork from the Has Heart "Hero Series", they launched a line of 18 greeting cards together.

With the Has Heart collection, consumers are able to connect with these "hero stories" through the greeting card captions. Using artwork created by a group of designers in collaboration with wounded U.S. veterans, the line features heartfelt copy and an amazing story about the hero who inspired each design. These cards share stories of gratitude and cheer while also stories of comfort and strength when things are difficult.

Design Design, whose core mission is to connect people to people, believes that sharing these veteran's stories further enhances that goal.

Through Design Design's 30 years of expertise in printing, each card was given a thoughtful treatment, such as embossing or foil stamping to enhance the original artwork from the Has Heart Hero Series. Design Design proudly manufactures this product line in the U.S.A, the cards are produced with 100% post-consumer recycled paper in Grand Rapids, MI.

Design Design started as a small greeting card company founded by Don Kallil in 1987. Today, it has become one of the nation's leading greeting card companies.
