Bear is a transplant from Tennessee and available for adoption in West Michigan

The Humane Society of West Michigan is offering an adoption special from now through June 24.

On 13 On Your Side at Noon Thursday, June 21, we had a chance to introduce you this week's adopt-a-pet!

Bear is a 6-month-old American Blue Heeler-mix. He came to the Humane Society of West Michigan last week from Tennessee. Bear is described as a goofy guy, who has a lot of energy. He loves squeaky toys and playing with other dogs. He is still very much a puppy so the Humane Society says that should be considered in families with smaller children.

There are also many activities for the family happening at the Humane Society of West Michigan. We have a list of some of the events below but you can find more information on their website.

  • Kids Camp - Our youth camps are happening now! There is still time to sign up for future summer camps. Each camp has a unique focus such as Vet Camp, Career Camp, and Media Mutts.
  • AGoldPhoto - June 25th, Adam from AGoldPhoto uses photography to tell stories of adoption, rescue and highlight various animal welfare issues. His unique approach to working with animals allows him to showcase the pet’s personality in ways most people haven’t seen. June 25th Adam and his team will be at the Standale Chow Hound location taking photographs of your pet! AGoldPhoto & Chow Hound will be donating a total of $50 to HSWM for every photo session. More details coming soon!
  • Adoption Special - June 19th - June 24th we will be having an adoption special. All adult cats and small critters are "name your price." Adult dogs (5 months - 7 years) are $125. Heartworm positive dogs are $100.
