CALHOUN COUNTY, Mich. — A Battle Creek man is facing an aggravated assault charge following an altercation at an Easter egg hunt for kids on Sunday.

The Calhoun County Sheriff's Office said during the Easter egg hunt setup at Valley View Elementary School, someone called 911 to report a stabbing around 9:15 a.m.

Deputies learned a man and his partner got into a disagreement about the placement of eggs.

When a family member intervened, authorities said the man pulled out a knife and cut that family member multiple times.

When deputies arrived, they were able to convince the man to drop the knife and take him into custody.

The family member had some minor cuts.

The 36-year-old Battle Creek man was taken to the Calhoun County Jail and charged with aggravated assault.

No one else was hurt during the coming to blows, and authorities said the children had not yet arrived at the egg hunt.
