GRPD: One dead, one hospitalized in shooting

GRPD Sgt. Dan Adams said police were first dispatched to an area hospital around 6:45 p.m. on a report of an apparent gunshot wound victim.

GRAND RAPIDS, Michigan — Grand Rapids Police say one person is dead and another is hospitalized and it maybe linked to a double shooting.

Wednesday Sgt. Dan Adams said police were first dispatched to an area hospital around 6:45 p.m. on a report of an apparent gunshot wound victim. Further information led them to a house on Carrier Creek Blvd. NE, near Diamond Avenue. As officers checked on residents at an apartment building, they found a second victim. That victim died on scene.

Friday, police identified the victim as Earnest Griffin, 53, a resident of Grand Rapids. An autopsy ruled the death a homicide.

At this time investigators are asking for the public’s help.  Anyone with information is asked to contact investigators at 616-456-3400 or Silent Observer at 616-774-2345 or www.silentobserver.org.
