INGHAM COUNTY, Mich. — A teenager Ingham County was taken to the hospital Monday morning after allegedly hitting a tree while intoxicated.

The Ingham County Sheriff's Office said that the 18-year-old Springport man was found unresponsive at a gas station in Wheatfield Township around 6:15 a.m.

When Deputies arrived at the gas station, they found a Ford pick-up truck with an entire tree lodged in the front bumper of the car. Deputies said that a passerby saw the truck parked at the gas station and called the Ingham County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies woke the driver up and determined that the tree was hit sometime after midnight on Monday.

The sheriff's office said the teenager was still intoxicated when deputies spoke to him. He was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Authorities say they will seek operating while intoxicated charges against the driver.

The Ingham County Sheriff’s Office urges motorists to drive safe and sober.
