GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — One person was seriously injured after being hit by a police vehicle during a pursuit in Grand Rapids Monday night.

The chase started after a sheriff's deputy located a stolen vehicle which they believed was connected to several crimes in Kent County and attempted to stop the car. The driver did not stop and a brief chase began.

Authorities said the suspect vehicle went off the roadway and hit unoccupied parked cars near Division Avenue and 32nd Street during the chase.

Two people then got out of the car and attempted to run while the vehicle was still in motion.

One of the people attempting to run was hit by a deputy's vehicle and seriously injured. They were taken to a hospital for treatment. The other person was taken into custody.

The Michigan State Police are now investigating this incident.
