Victim identified in fatal Grand Rapids shooting Saturday, suspect charged

The incident happened around 11 a.m. on Saturday. The Grand Rapids Police Department got a report of a shooting in the 1100 block of Lafayette Ave SE.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The victim of a fatal shooting on Saturday in Grand Rapids was identified Monday afternoon.

Brandon Clark, 39, was identified Monday afternoon. The Kent County Medical Examiner completed an autopsy on Clark and ruled the death to be a homicide.

The incident happened around 11 a.m. on Saturday, when the Grand Rapids Police Department (GRPD) got a report of a shooting in the 1100 block of Lafayette Ave SE.

When they arrived on the scene, they found Clark and attempted life-saving measures, but he was later pronounced dead.

Police later took 24-year-old Dayshaun Catledge into custody for allegedly shooting and killing Clark.

Catledge has been charged with open murder and felony firearm in relation to the shooting.
