Bicyclist injured in Ionia County hit-and-run

Authorities are looking for a dark-colored pickup truck that may have damage to the front passenger door.

LAKE ODESSA, Mich. - Authorities in Ionia County are looking for the driver of a pickup truck that struck a bicyclist on Monday and drove off.

It happened on May 6, just after 9:20 p.m. in the area of Jordan Lake Road and Bonanza Road. Ionia County deputies were investigating reports of a person lying near the road. 

Deputies determined the subject had been hit by a vehicle while riding their bike. The victim was traveling south on Jordan Lake near the intersection when a dark-colored pickup truck going west crossed the intersection in front of him.

The bicyclist collided with the truck's front passenger door. He was taken to Butterworth Hospital in Grand rapids for non-life threatening injuries.

According to a release from the Ionia County Sheriff's Office, the bicyclist was wearing a helmet and reflective riding gear. The driver of the pickup truck did not stop after the incident. 

The truck is said to be dark in color and about the size of a Ford F-150, however the exact make and model were not known. There may be damage to the front passenger door.
