Be The Rock ArtPrize entry represents a special collaboration

You can help complete an ArtPrize piece.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - If you haven't made it to ArtPrize 10, there is still time. And in some cases, visiting later in the event has its advantages.

As 13 ON YOUR SIDE'S Meredith TerHaar explains, the piece Be The Rock came together in a unique way over the course of the competition, and there is still room for you to help complete it.

Joel Lautenbach, of Samaritas, explained that the original oil painting created by Eric Picardo, also involved the help of many hands, young and old, who grabbed a paintbrush to paint a vibrant picture of community. Samaritas serves kids and families, refugees and seniors.

Watch the video above to find out how that original painting was then translated onto a massive board in front of the New Holland Knickerbocker location. Joel explains how, with the help of Applied Imaging, the painting was printed onto stone tiles that were cut into puzzle pieces for ArtPrize visitors to find and glue onto the piece.
