Baby rushed to hospital after nearly drowning in bathtub at home near Sparta

The incident happened at a home off of 16 Mile Road Northwest in Sparta Township. First responders gave the child CPR and rushed the baby to the hospital.

KENT CITY, Mich. — The Kent County Sheriff's Office is investigating the near-drowning of an 8-month-old child Wednesday afternoon. 

First responders were called out to a home off of 16 Mile Road Northwest near Kenowa Avenue in Sparta Township around 3:30 p.m. 

Deputies said a child was found in the bathtub inside the home. 

First responders gave the child CPR and rushed the baby to the hospital. 

Crews at the scene told 13 ON YOUR SIDE the child was alive when the ambulance left the home.
