Car rear-ends Amish carriage in Mecosta County, 3 passengers have minor injuries

The 71-year-old driver from Morley and two passengers, a 13-year-old and a 46-year-old from Ashland, Ohio, were thrown from the carriage.

MECOSTA COUNTY, Mich — Three people received minor, non-life-threatening injuries after a car hit their Amish carriage on Friday morning. 

Around 8:45 a.m. deputies from the Mecosta County Sheriff's Office were sent to Jefferson Road near 165th Avenue for reports of a crash involving a car and an Amish carriage.

According to deputies, the investigation shows that a 42-year-old Morley woman was driving eastbound when she rear-ended an Amish carriage with three people in it. 

The 71-year-old driver from Morley and two passengers, a 13-year-old and a 46-year-old from Ashland, Ohio, were thrown from the carriage, deputies said. 

Troopers said all passengers received minor injuries and the 46-year-old man was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
