GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Brewery Vivant in Grand Rapids is collaborating with the Land Conservancy of West Michigan (LCWM) as a part of its Earth To Beer campaign. Now, the brewery is ready to share the beer itself.

The brewery said the "West Coast Style" DIPA utilizes locally grown and malted white wheat and Vienna malt as well as hops chosen for their lower CO2 emissions during growing and processing. Those hops? Zappa, Comet and Bravo.

Those who try out the beer can expect flavors and aromas of passionfruit, mandarin, pineapple, and zesty grapefruit.

"The malts come from Great Lakes Malting, because of their focus on local agriculture. The hops are from farms in Yakima that have CO2 emission data and are known for their sustainability practices," read the brewery's Facebook post.

They also said their production team has been "raving" about how great the beer, which they describe as a "liquid pledge to the planet," turned out.

The beer drops Friday from 6-9 p.m. and staff from LCWM will be in the brewery's Walloon Room with a signup sheet for volunteers for their Second Saturday cleanups.

They also plan to release their annual Beer The Change Sustainability Report on Friday. The report will show the efforts they have taken to operate sustainably and reduce their carbon footprint.
