"Governor's Whitbier" was made for the Pure Michigan Governor's Conference on Tourism, which begins in April.

Whitmer said one of the reasons she chose to highlight craft beer on the conference is because of how well-known Michigan has become for the drink.

"This craft beer industry has grown," Whitmer said. "I mean, it's become such a powerhouse in our Michigan economy. It sets us apart."

She said the conference is part of a push towards the Pure Michigan brand and Michigan's tourism industry.

"Michigan is a one of a kind place," Whitmer said. "We've got something to offer for every person and every one of our four seasons. And this tourism conference, the work that we do with Pure Michigan, the uplifting of craft brewers are many parts of our work to increase our profile and draw more investment into Michigan and more tourism."
