GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Fans of Valley Field, a grassroots organization, is partnered with the City of Grand Rapids to restore and revamp Sullivan Field on the west side of the city.

The organization has raised $3.6 million of the $4.2 million goal for the restoration project.

The project is set to break ground and the public phase of the capital campaign to help raise the remaining amount is underway.

Monday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. the community is invited to a groundbreaking event and capital campaign kickoff celebration with Fans of Valley Field supporters and Grand Rapids Mayor Rosalynn Bliss.

Formerly known as Valley Field, Sullivan Field was built in 1937. The organization aims to restore the field to the action-packed baseball park it was for fans to enjoy and children to play in.
