John Ball Zoo debuts two new Canada Lynx

Thor and Norrie are being added to the zoo's family.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - John Ball Zoo announced two new Canada Lynx that have joined the zoo.

Thor is a five-year-old male who came from the Ft. Wayne Zoo. Norrie is a one-year-old female who came from the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo.

Thor and Norrie are located in habitat near the otters and bears.

Canada Lynx are similar to the bobcat but they have a shorter tail with an all-black tip and no white. They also have longer back legs compared to their front, larger paws and longer ear tufts.

The Canada Lynx is a threatened species in the United States. In the wild, they can be found in Canada, the U.S. northern Rocky Mountains, northern Midwest, Upper New England and Alaska.

This species is not often seen in the wild, and they are generally solitary animals.

John Ball Zoo is open everyday during the summer from 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. More information about their hours and admission rates can be found on the zoo's website.
