GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The Acrisure Amphitheater is one step closer to reality after the City of Grand Rapids submitted the permits to begin demolition at the site.

The permit application sets an expected start date of May 1, 2024, and an expected completion date of June 1, 2026. The permit lists 201 Market Ave SW as the address for the site.

The 12,000-seat venue is expected to cost about $184 million, which will be funded through both public and private dollars.

This first permit submitted by the city includes plans for "existing conditions, demolition, and soil erosion measures as well as an overall site layout for reference."

The city will submit additional plans for utilities, grading and a detailed site layout in May.

The city estimates that the venue will have around 50 events and bring in an average of 300,000 guests each season.

The venue is expected to generate $7 million in annual wage earnings and $490 million in new economic impact over the next 30 years.
