Arrest made after after shooting at Delta Hotel in Kentwood leaves teen dead

Police say the shooting happened around 10:15 p.m. Friday.

KENTWOOD, Mich. — A juvenile has been arrested for the shooting death of a 17-year-old at the Delta Hotel located at 3333 28th Street SE. 

Kentwood Police responded to the scene around 10:15 p.m. Friday. 

Officers found the boy inside the hotel room with an apparent gunshot wound. First responders and officers attempted life-saving measures, but the victim was later pronounced dead at the scene. His name is not being released at this time. 

Police do not believe any others were injured during the incident. 

The juvenile is currently being held at the Kent County Juvenile Detention Center. His name and age are not being released at this time. Detectives will be meeting with the Kent County Prosecutor’s Office, which will determine specific charges to be filed.
