Michigan State Police bomb squad disarm suspected explosive device found during traffic stop

Troopers said they found a suspected pipe/cannon bomb inside a car on M-43 near Hickory in Prairieville Township Tuesday.

BARRY COUNTY, Mich. — Michigan State Police troopers searching a vehicle during a traffic stop in Barry County Tuesday discovered a suspected pipe bomb. 

Troopers from the Wayland Post pulled over a car on M-43 near Hickory in Prairieville Township around 5:30 p.m.

MSP said two Delton men in the car were wanted on felony firearms and possession with intent to deliver meth & analogues charges. 

As troopers were checking the car, they said they found a pipe/cannon bomb. 

They called in the Michigan State Police Bomb Squad to safely remove and disable it.

No one was hurt. Both men in the car were arrested.
