How this A-list celebrity ended up going viral dancing at a bar in Grand Rapids

A video of the 'Top Gun: Maverick' and 'Whiplash' star busting a move is now making the rounds on TikTok.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Well, that's certainly not who you expected to see dancing up a storm at your local Grand Rapids bar.

Miles Teller, of 'Top Gun: Maverick,' 'Fantastic Four' and 'Whiplash' fame, hosted an event at SpeakEZ on Monday night to promote the brand he co-owns, Finnish Long Drinks.

The bar on Monroe Avenue quickly reached capacity.

One person who made it through the doors that night was Raigan Novotny, a 24-year-old who lives in Grand Rapids. And it was lucky she did.

"I came out to see Miles because I’ve been a big fan of him and his movies since I was young," she said. "He’s a big deal!"

She said the crowd packed into SpeakEZ was lively, dancing and singing with Miles.

"He was so fun, energetic and seemed like he was really enjoying meeting people and taking photos," she said.

But when "Take My Breath Away" came on, the song that's become synonymous with the classic movie Top Gun, the event became electric.

"The crowd went wild, so I started recording," said Novotny.

Miles began dancing behind SpeakEZ's bar, singing the words. Novotny's TikTok now has 123,000 views and growing.

"I’m not sure if I expected it to blow up, but I knew that people in the area would be really excited to see that he was here," she said.

It's not his only stop in Michigan. Teller is headed to Crunchy's Burgers & Beers in East Lansing and The Brown Jug in Ann Arbor on Tuesday.

"It was so much fun and I’m so glad that my friend called me and told me about it! As soon as we heard we knew we had to go and I’m so thankful that we did."

We hope you enjoy your tour of the mitten state the same way we enjoyed those moves, Miles!
