Man injured in Muskegon Heights shooting

Police say the man drove himself to the Muskegon Heights Police Department around 2 a.m. with a gunshot wound on his right hip.

MUSKEGON HEIGHTS, Mich. — A man was injured in a shooting early Monday morning in Muskegon Heights.

Police say the man drove himself to the Muskegon Heights Police Department around 2 a.m. with a gunshot wound on his right hip. 

The shooting happened in the 2500 block of Leahy Street. The man, identified as 47-year-old Mark Allen Alexander, had been sitting in his car when a man approached the passenger side and fired once into the vehicle.

Alexander then drove to the police station, where he was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Police do not have a suspect description at this time.
