MUSKEGON, Mich. — Information has been circulating about an alleged assault at a Muskegon County park. Police are setting the record straight.

Muskegon County Sheriff's deputies were called to Mullally Park in Laketon Township on Tuesday around 8 p.m. There, they met the woman who called first responders.

There were several people nearby due to a sporting event happening, police say. When interviewed by deputies, they did not hear a scream or a call for help.

Deputies later followed up with the woman who alleged the assault. Investigation revealed the woman made the incident up, police say.

There is no threat to the public at this time.
