Kent Career Tech Center captures satisfying video of snow sliding off roof

The Kent Career Tech Center caught some amazing video of snow cascading down from its roof.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The roof of the Kent Career Tech Center in Grand Rapids was caught on camera Thursday preparing for the big storm on the way.

A facilities worker for the tech center was able to capture video on their phone of a massive amount of snow cascading off its roof.

The sounds and visuals of the snow sliding down to the ground are almost hypnotic. Check it out here:

The facilities worker says that this type of thing happens all the time and they just happened to be able to catch it on video today.

The metal roof of the tech center makes the snow slide off when temperatures are warm enough. The tech center has snow bars on the roof near entrances, which prevents the snow from cascading off the roof.

The only places where the snow cascades off the roof of the tech center are along walls with no entrances or exits. They say that no one was near the falling snow and no one was injured.

With heavy snowfall and high accumulation amounts expected Friday morning through Saturday afternoon, be careful around metal roofs. The heavier the snow and the warmer the temperatures, the more likely the snow will cascade off the roof.
