MARSHALL, Michigan — An argument escalated to violence last month, sending a 28-year-old Ohio man to the hospital to get surgery.

Michigan State Police (MSP) from the Marshall Post arrested three people Monday in connection to the knife attack on March 1 in Coldwater Township.

Troopers said two men were in the 200 block of Paradise Island Drive arguing when the 19-year-old Battle Creek man pulled out a knife.

Authorities said the 19-year-old stabbed the Ohio man multiple times. The victim attempted to defend himself with a pistol but a witness intervened, MSP said.

Two women helped the suspect get away, law enforcement said.

The pair of women, a 19-year-old and a 24-year-old, turned themselves into the Branch County Jail on Monday. They each face felony accessory after the fact and felony obstruction charges.

Michigan State Police's fugitive team arrested the 19-year-old male suspect in Battle Creek Monday. He faces an attempted murder charge.
