Holton Red Devils want this year's team to be remembered

It's been a rough decade for the Red Devils. They haven't made the Michigan high school football playoffs since 2007.

HOLTON, Mich. - Opening night for high school football in Michigan is Thursday, Aug. 23, which means the 13 ON YOUR SIDE sports department has a lot of scouting to do before the first 13 On Your Sidelines show that same night.

People in Holton talk about the year 2007 a lot. Their Red Devils last made the playoffs that year, but this year's team wants future generations in Holton to remember 2018.

To turn around what's amounted to a decade of mediocrity, coach Jack Nummerdor says he wants to bring back some of the characteristics of that 2007 team: team chemistry and "nastiness."

This year's team is coming together and learning to play for each other instead of themselves.

Holton starts the year against Hart.
