Forest Hills Central's Ty Hudkins named AP Player of the Year

The Rangers standout earned the honor for divisions three and four.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich — He was one of the best players in West Michigan during 2023's season of 13 On Your Sidelines and now Forest Hills Central's Ty Hudkins is being recognized as one of the best in the state of Michigan as well.

On Thursday, the Associated Press named Hudkins the Player of the Year in divisions three and four in the state of Michigan.

"All of this goes to my coaches who helped me become the person I am today. Thank you guys for being there every step of the way," Hudkins said on X.

Hudkins helped Forest Hills Central reach the state championship game two years in a row. Last month, the Rangers defeated Mason to win the state title in Division 3.

After high school, Hudkins will play Big Ten football. He's been a three-star recruit as a safety. Originally, Hudkins committed to play at Northwestern but after a scandal unfolded in Evanston earlier this year, Hudkins opened his commitment back up and eventually decided to play for Purdue next year.
