BYRON CENTER, Mich. — This week's Meijer Scholar athlete is Bryon Centers Claire VanZanten, who is not only a star for the Bulldogs' soccer team but she's also a star in the classroom.
VanZanten has a 4.1 GPA and she is also involved with her church's youth group and a member of the National Honor Society.
On the field VanZanten has led Bryon Center in scoring each of the last two seasons and will be headed to Spring Arbor University to continue her soccer career and major in nursing. She's gotten to this point through hard work all throughout her high school career and she said it was her dedication that helped her get to this point in her life.
VanZanten said she is hoping to soak up every second of this season with the Bulldogs before she heads to Spring Arbor in the Fall.
