Detroit Tigers home opener is here! Everything you need to know

The 5-1 Tigers are set to host the 1-6 Athletics at their home opener in Detroit.

DETROIT — Tigers fans will be flooding into Detroit Friday for the team's home opener against the Oakland Athletics.

The Detroit Tigers are off to one of their best starts in years, winning five of their first six games of the season. They are set to take on a struggling Oakland A's team that has only won a single game all season.

The first pitch is scheduled for 1:10 p.m. at Comerica Park in Detroit.

Tickets are sold out for the game, but you can still find tickets on the second-hand market through apps like StubHub, VividSeats and SeatGeek.

You can watch the Tigers home opener on Bally Sports, Fubo, ESPN+ or the MLB Network. The game may be subject to blackout on some channels in some areas.

What's new at Comerica Park?

If you are heading down to the game in person, you can check out some of the new sights, sounds and food at Comerica Park. The Tigers are debuting their brand-new videoboard and sound system for the 2024 season, along with upgrading TVs around the park to HD.

There will be new food and drinks at the park, including original menu items from Marrow, Slows Bar BQ and Detroit Water Ice Factory.

Comerica Park will also debut a new sensory room for guests with sensory sensitivities, created by the Detroit Tigers Foundation and KultureCity.

It will be a bit on the chilly side in Detroit for the Tigers home opener Friday. Highs are expected to be around 45 degrees with some light wind out of the north. There is a chance for a stray shower, but it likely wouldn't impact the game more than a delay.
