BIG RAPIDS, Mich. — The Ferris State University (FSU) women's basketball team finished the 2023-24 season with the best ranking in program history.

The Bulldogs made a historic run in the 2024 Division II Women's Basketball Championship, cruising their way through their regional bracket and earning a spot in the Final Four before falling to Texas Woman's University 68-52.

And less than a week after the tournament wrapped up, the Women's Basketball Coaches Association Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll released their final rankings for the season.

The Ferris State women's basketball team earned a No. 3 national ranking, the best final ranking the program has ever received. FSU earned 492 points in voting by coaches across the country to get that final ranking.

Only the national champion Minnesota State and the runner-up Texas Woman's University ended the season ranked higher than the Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs were only one of two teams from the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference to end the season ranked in the top 25, with Grand Valley State University earning a No. 9 ranking.

FSU women's basketball head coach Kurt Westendrop led the Bulldogs to a 26-6 overall record, the best in school history. The Bulldogs also posted four wins and no losses against No. 1 and No. 2 ranked teams throughout the season.
