KDL’s Summer Wonder Program is the antidote to Summer Slide

This year’s theme is all about nature and the world around us. The program encourages reading, learning and exploring through the great outdoors.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Ah, the familiar refrain of, “I’m bored!”  There is absolutely no reason for your kids to be bored this summer.  Not with KDL’s Summer Wonder program.

This year’s theme is all about nature and the world around us.

The program encourages reading, learning and exploring through the great outdoors.

There are activities for the whole family, including outdoor scavenger hunts, StoryWalks, park exploration and more.

Participants can take the self-guided Summer Wonder Challenge of reading, writing and STEAM experiments.

And there are prizes to be won!  Programs like Summer Wonder are critical for young readers.

13 On Your Side has just launched a summer-long project called “Stop the Summer Slide” because of the learning that’s lost over the summer when kids fail to read.

Teachers often spend a good part of the new school year trying to catch up.

For some kids, the losses are cumulative and can set them back by a whole year by the time they reach the 6th grade.  Don’t let that happen.

Discover the fun and adventure that awaits inside a KDL library branch.

KDL’s Summer Wonder runs through August 12.
