HOLLAND, Mich. — A man was killed Monday night after being thrown from the hood of a car during a quarrel with his wife at a Wendy's parking lot.

Shortly after noon, the Holland Department of Public Safety said the married couple from Grand Haven were arguing inside a '09 Dodge Charger in the parking lot of the restaurant in Holland.

The 45-year-old man, identified as Robert Baltazar Leon, stepped out of the vehicle during the argument, and authorities said his 44-year-old wife locked the doors.

The Holland Department of Public Safety said the woman then tried to drive out of the parking lot. However, her husband jumped onto the hood of the car.

She did not stop driving and instead turned left onto the private roadway between the Wendy's and the Fifth Third Bank.

While she was turning, Leon was thrown from the hood of the car and struck his head on the pavement.

Officials said the man was brought to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. He later died from his injuries Monday night.

His wife was not injured.

The Holland Department of Public Safety is still investigating.
