KENTWOOD, Mich. — Not guilty.

That was the verdict delivered by a Kent County jury in court Monday in a murder case against Jerry Kidd Jr.

Kidd Jr. had faced open murder and a felony firearms charge in the April 2023 shooting death of 41-year-old Edgar Hernandez-Sandoval at the Affordable Suites of America at East Beltline Avenue near 28th Street.

Kentwood Police at the time said Kidd Jr. and Hernandez-Sandoval got into a fight at the hotel, and Kidd Jr. allegedly shot him once with a handgun, killing him.

The Kent County Prosecutor's Office confirmed the acquittal Monday afternoon.
