Man convicted in 2021 Muskegon Heights murder

MUSKEGON HEIGHTS, Mich. — A man has been convicted in the 2021 shooting death of 27-year-old Lawrence Longmire.

Sururious Quinton Wynn, of Muskegon, was found guilty Monday of second-degree murder, felon in possession of a firearm and two counts of felony firearm third offense.

The shooting happened on Oct. 24, 2021, near the Shell Mart at 1 W Sherman Boulevard around 2:30 a.m. Longmire was killed in the shooting, and a 31-year-old man was injured.

Wynn fled the scene and was arrested in Pennsylvania about a month after the shooting.

Wynn had previously been in jail just 13 days before the fatal shooting on two misdemeanor assault charges.

"The City of Muskegon Heights would offer our deepest condolences to the Longmire family and hope that this conviction can bring some closure to the family," reads a press release about Wynn's conviction.
