MUSKEGON, Mich — A 28-year-old man was shot and killed in Muskegon Monday evening, while another drove himself to the hospital for treatment.

That's according to the Muskegon Police Department, who said their officers were called around 5:15 p.m. to check out someone with gunshot wounds in the 100 block of West Larch Avenue.

Police found the 28-year-old Muskegon man had been shot, and he died from his wounds there.

Meanwhile, a second victim described as a 36-year-old Muskegon man drove himself to a hospital. Authorities said his injuries were not life-threatening.

Detectives do not believe this was a random incident.

Officers are working to find out the details surrounding the violence.

"The Muskegon Department of Public Safety wishes to extend our deepest sympathies to everyone involved in this tragedy," Director of Public Safety Tim Kozal said in a statement.

Authorities are asking anyone who may know what happened to give the Muskegon Police Department a call at 231-724-6750 or Silent Observer at 231-722-7463.
