MUSKEGON, Mich. — This week's Meijer Scholar Athlete is someone who has the grit and determination to put in the extra work to be great in academics, athletics and in his personal life.
Reeths-Puffer High School student Jaxson Whitaker is a three-sport athlete.
The Rockers senior plays basketball, football and baseball. However, he's also a stud outside of sports as he is a member of PALS and the IMPACT leadership group.
Whitaker is in the national honor society and maintains a 4.12 G.P.A.
He loves having the tenacity to excel in all avenues of life.
"It means a lot," Whitaker said. "You put in a lot of work in to my sport and obviously put a lot of work in the classroom. It means a lot. Both of my parents are administrators so obviously I come from a home where school is important and I like to be good at everything I do. It is fun being a student athlete."
Whitaker will continue to be a student athlete at the next level. He will play basketball at Ferris State and aims to study business.
