NCAA DII SWEET SIXTEEN | Ferris State University men's and women's basketball teams in regional finals

Both the men's and women's teams upset their opponents in the Round of 32 last weekend and are continuing their runs toward the DII Championship.

BIG RAPIDS TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Ferris State University Basketball has danced their way straight into the Sweet Sixteen of the 2024 Division II NCAA Basketball Tournament.

Both the men's and women's teams upset their opponents in the Round of 32 last weekend and are continuing their runs toward the DII Championship.

The women's team defeated 6 seed Lewis University 75-53 on Friday before defeating the defending national champion Ashland University on Saturday 64-59.

The Bulldogs are set to face off against their in-state rivals Grand Valley State University in the Sweet Sixteen Monday night at 7 p.m. in Allendale. The winner of that game will head Saint Joseph, MO for the Elite Eight and their chance at a national title run.

The women's win on Saturday marked the second time the team advanced to the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Championship game in the program's history.

The men's team has had a similar run this March, earning a trip to the Sweet Sixteen through an upset.

The Bulldogs began their run by defeating Northern Michigan University 81-65 in the first round Saturday. Then on Sunday, the men's team pulled off a major upset, knocking out the 1 seeded University of Indianapolis in the Midwest Regional 94-87.

FSU was down by 13 points with under 11 minutes left in the game but mounted a comeback, tying the game at 74 at the end of regulation. The Bulldogs kept the rally going, outscoring the Greyhounds 20-13 in overtime, taking home the win.

Senior guard Ben Davidson and junior guard Ethan Erikson led the team with a combined 47 points in the win.

FSU is in the middle of its 17th all-time NCAA Tournament appearance, with their third appearance in the regional final under head coach Andy Bronkema.

Now, FSU is taking on Lake Superior State in the Sweet Sixteen in Nicoson Hall at the University of Indianapolis on Tuesday, March 19 at 7 p.m. The game will be broadcast on 97.3 FM and online coverage is provided at FerrisStateBulldogs.com. NCAA.com will also provide a pay-per-view webcast of the game.

If the Bulldogs defeat Lake Superior State, they will be heading to Evansville, TN for the Elite Eight.
