GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Thousands woke up with no power across West Michigan on Wednesday and some of the outages are expected to continue into Thursday and Friday.
More than 30,000 outages were reported as of 10 p.m. Wednesday. Kent County had the most outages with more than 24,000.

Consumers says, since 1 a.m., Wednesday approximately 63,000 customers have lost power and more than 600 downed wires have been reported.
The energy company added, a majority of affected customers are expected to have their service restored by Thursday night. Final restoration for customers in the hardest hit areas may continue until approximately noon on Friday.
Blodgett Hospital was impacted by an outage in East Grand Rapids.
Spectrum health said in statement," The hospital does have a plan in place whenever there is a power loss and that plan was implemented. During a power outage, there is sufficient generator power for continued patient care."
Roads were a slush-covered mess for most of West Michigan Wednesday morning. Many area schools closed.
Most of the precipitation from this first round is over. But a second round is expected Thursday night. Freezing rain Thursday and high winds early Friday could cause more problems.
