Try It Before You Buy It: Floor Police Mop

Is the Floor Police Motorized Mop an easy self-propelled way to clean your floors? Find out as we test it.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Are your floors so dirty you should be locked away?

Need a better way to clean?

Today we are testing out the Floor Police mop. It promises to be a self-propelled mop that does all the work for you. Does it work?

We Try It Before You Buy It!

Opening the box, you’ll find the mop, charger, and three sets of pads. The instructions recommend you charge it before use. So we assembled it and plugged it in. Assembly was fast and easy.

Once charged, we put on the microfiber pads. These are the general-purpose pads. We sprayed our cleaner directly on the pad and turned it on. Well, we tried to. The mop kind of kicks when hitting the on button, so you might need to hold it away from the floor or use your hand.

The Floor Police is self-propelled, so you don’t need to push down or put much effort into cleaning. We went over some muddy spots on the floor, and in no time at all, it scrubbed them away. The only thing we noticed is it has a slow pace. There is no speed adjustment, so you’re at the mercy of its slow pace to roll up on any crime scene.

Just looking at the pads you can see this picks up a large amount of dirt.

We encountered a few harder-to-clean spots, so we swapped out to the more abrasive pads, sprayed those with cleaner, and removed what the microfiber couldn’t. We even left ketchup out overnight, and it took about 30 seconds to scrub it away. The syrup we left out for over a day was no match for it either. After working out the hard-to-clean spots, we put on the buffer pads.

We soaked these pads in some water and did one pass on the floor to catch anything we missed or left behind residue. Even these were a bit dirty after use.

How did it do? After a pass with the microfiber and one with the polishing pads, we took a paper towel to the floor, and it came up clean, so it worked. Plus, it was easy to use, and it was self-propelled.

The positives

  • Multiple reusable pad options
  • Easy to use and self-propelled
  • Use can use your own cleaner

The negatives

  • Slow, no speed control, took some time to clean
  • No internal pump for a solution. You must use external sprays

If you’re looking to clean a crime scene or a regular kitchen, the Floor police could be a good option for you at forty dollars. Since it hit all its marks, we rate it as a "Buy It".
