Holland authorities investigating homicide after shooting

Officers said they believe there was an altercation in the parking lot of the Moran Park Church, where the two victims were shot.

HOLLAND, Mich. — Monday night shortly after 8 p.m. officers from the Holland Department of Public Safety (HDPS) responded to reports of shots fired near Michigan Avenue and 22nd Street.

Shortly after that, authorities say two people showed up at the Holland Hospital with gunshot wounds.

Officers said they believe there was an altercation in the parking lot of the Moran Park Church, where the two victims were shot.

The first victim was a 33-year-old woman from Holland who died from her injuries. The second, a 34-year-old Holland man, his condition is unknown as he was transferred to a larger hospital.

The HDPS said they do not know what led to the incident, they are continuing to investigate.
