Suspect arrested for burglary and arson in Wyoming

Police say that throughout the investigation, it became apparent that the business had been burglarized and purposefully set on fire, and that a car was stolen.

WYOMING, Mich. — A suspect has been arrested for allegedly burglarizing a business, setting it on fire and stealing a vehicle in Wyoming, police say.

Firefighters responded to Austin-Jordan Engines, located at 4259 Clyde Park SW, at around 7:30 a.m. Sunday on reports of a structure fire. According to police, nearly 30 firefighters from Wyoming, Kentwood, Byron Township and Cutlerville  spent almost nine hours at the scene battling the flames and investigating the fire, which caused extensive damage.

Police say that throughout the investigation, it became apparent that the business had been burglarized and purposefully set on fire, and that a car was stolen.

At around 1 p.m. Monday, Wyoming police officers located the stolen vehicle and a suspect at a business on Burton Street SW. The suspect was lodged at the Kent County Jail on probable cause. The case facts will be presented Tuesday to the Kent County Prosecutor for consideration of formal charges.
