Multiple crashes, slide offs cause traffic headaches on SB US-131

Michigan State Police have stayed busy after multiple crashes on southbound US-131 Wednesday afternoon.

KENT COUNTY, Mich. — Michigan State Police have stayed busy after multiple crashes on southbound US-131 Wednesday afternoon.

Police say there were no major injuries in any of the crashes so far, but they had one message for drivers on the roads..."SLOW DOWN!!"

Michigan State Police tweeted out two separate crashes on SB US-131. Multiple semi-trucks were in the ditch following the crash on US-131, north of West River.

Another crash, on SB US-131 at Post Drive, shut down the freeway entirely. Police say no one was injured.

The Kent County Road Commission says they are focused on mechanically scraping the roads free of snow. Limited material is being used on the roads due to the heavy snowfall and blowing winds.
